At Rising Sails, the fee structure is designed to reflect the specialized, intensive nature of grief-focused care — and to give you access to that care without the limitations insurance can impose on your treatment. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about rates, accepted insurance, and payment options.

Private pay fees

Individual session: $200 per 55-minute session

Grief support group: $50 per group session (not eligible for insurance)

Grief intensive: $3,000 full intensive package (12 hours over multiple sessions, typically 3 days plus a check-in session and wrap up session)

Payment is due at the time of service. We accept all major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, cash, and check. A credit card on file is required for all clients.

Currently accepted insurance plans

Rising Sails is currently in-network with the following insurance plans:

  • Aetna
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • Optum
  • United Healthcare

PLEASE NOTE: Rising Sails is gradually transitioning to a fully private pay practice. Insurance plans are being removed one at a time, and while the goal is to be fully off all panels by January 1, 2027, some plans may no longer be accepted as early as August 2026. If you are currently using insurance or have questions about your specific plan, please reach out before scheduling — I’m happy to discuss where things stand and what your options are.

Insurance coverage varies by plan, state, and service type. Not all services (including groups and intensives) will be covered under your plan. It is always a good idea to verify your benefits before your first appointment by calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card.

Superbills & out-of-network reimbursement

If your insurance plan is not listed above, you may still have options. Many PPO plans offer out-of-network benefits that allow for partial reimbursement of therapy costs. Upon request, I can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt with the diagnostic and billing codes your insurer needs to process your claim. You submit it directly to your insurance company, and they reimburse you based on your plan’s out-of-network benefits.

Before your first appointment, it’s worth calling your insurer to ask:

→Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits?

→What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met?

→What percentage of the allowable amount will be reimbursed?

→Are telehealth sessions covered under out-of-network benefits?

Common CPT codes used at Rising Sails: 90791 (intake), 90837 (53–60 minute session)
