Sherri Webster, LCSW-C | Licensed Therapist in Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland & More
Hi, I'm Sherri Webster, LCSW-C, C-SWHC
I'm based in Dover, Delaware and work with clients across six states. I specialize in therapy for adults who are excellent at taking care of everyone else and terrible at taking care of themselves.
My Approach
I believe understanding yourself is only half the work. Real change happens when insight meets action — when you don't just know why you keep saying yes when you mean no, or why anxiety follows you into every room, or why the grief still hits out of nowhere. Knowing isn't enough. You need someone who will actually help you do something different.
My approach is warm and direct. I'll meet you where you are, and I won't let you stay stuck there.
I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based techniques, and strengths-based practice. In practice, what that means is this:
- Identify what's underneath the anxiety, the depression, the grief — and how patterns like people-pleasing and perfectionism are keeping it in place
- Understand where it all started, without making a permanent home there
- Build something that actually holds: boundaries that stick, a sense of self that isn't contingent on everyone else's approval, and a life that feels like yours again
Being needed feels like a full-time job. So does the anxiety. So does the grief you haven't had time to actually feel. The people I work with are capable, dependable, and exhausted in a way that's hard to explain to anyone else. Therapy is often the first space they've had that's entirely their own — where they don't have to perform, manage anyone else's feelings, or hold anything together. Just an honest conversation with someone who gets it, and who will help them find their way back to themselves.

My Background
I earned my Master of Social Work from Rutgers University in 2016 and have spent the decade since working across some of the most demanding settings in the field — domestic violence services, military family advocacy, inpatient and residential care, federally qualified health centers, and private practice.
That range wasn't accidental. I wanted to understand people across the full spectrum of what brings someone to therapy — crisis and chronic stress, grief and identity, trauma and transition. That breadth shapes how I work now.
I hold active licenses in Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, and Florida (LCSW-C, LCSW) and am a nationally certified Social Worker in Health Care (C-SWHC). I am also a board-approved clinical supervisor in Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware. I offer individual therapy via telehealth across all six states, with in-person sessions available in Dover, Delaware.
In 2022 I founded Delaware Bay Therapy Services LLC, which operates as Rising Sails — a telehealth and in-person practice built around the kind of work I find most meaningful: helping people who've spent their whole lives being needed finally figure out what they need. I accept BCBS and private pay.
I'm based in Dover, Delaware, with deep roots along the East Coast — from the Jersey Shore to the Delmarva Peninsula to the Florida coast. Water has always been part of my story. I grew up walking to a lighthouse, breathing in salty, marshy air, and feeling the particular kind of calm that only comes from being near the bay. My family's connection to the water runs deep — and that feeling, that sense of steadiness and expansiveness you get when you're standing at the edge of something bigger than yourself, is exactly what I hope people find here.
Rising Sails isn't just a name. It's a feeling. The moment when the wind catches and something shifts — when forward finally feels possible again.
