When a client dies, there’s often nowhere to bring it. I built this space because I believe there should be. I offer individual therapy for clinicians grieving the death of a client, because I know firsthand how much this specific kind of loss needs its own space. Grief support for therapists.
What This Is
This is licensed therapy with me, Sherri Webster, LCSW, C-SWHC, built specifically for therapists and other clinicians processing the loss of a client. It’s private, it’s confidential, and it’s entirely about you, not case notes, not the client’s treatment, not what could have been done differently. Just you and what you’re carrying.
Grief needs to be said out loud, not just thought about privately or written down in a journal. It needs another person to actually hear it. That’s how grief moves. It doesn’t move by staying inside you.
The Losses I Support
Every clinician’s story here is different, and I’ve sat with many versions of this. A client’s suicide. An overdose or accidental death. A homicide. A death that came without warning. A long-term client whose illness finally took them, after years of sessions together. And sometimes it’s even harder than that: finding out through an obituary, a chart note, or a passing comment from a colleague, with no warning at all.
However it happened, your grief is real, and it deserves a real place to land.
Who I Work With
I work with therapists, counselors, social workers, and other mental health clinicians in Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, or South Carolina. If you’ve lost a client and you want to talk to someone who genuinely understands the weight of this, not just clinically, but personally, I’d like to be that person for you.
What to Expect
This is private pay only. I don’t bill insurance for this work, and this isn’t about diagnosis or treatment planning. It’s about you having somewhere to put this down, even for an hour.
Reach Out
You don’t have to keep carrying this by yourself. When you’re ready, get in touch and we’ll talk through what support could look like.
Not Sure Where to Start?
If individual therapy feels like a big first step, you’re welcome to start smaller. The Clinician’s Grief Room is my free monthly peer support group for clinicians who’ve lost a client. It’s a low-pressure way to be around others who understand this, before deciding if you want or need something more.
